Mobile dog grooming does what it says on the tin: it offers what in-salon professional dog grooming services do, except they come to you. It is not self-service - all you have to do is pass your dog over and the groomer will take care of the rest!

A mobile dog groomer would typically have a van or trailer fitted out with everything they would need to provide excellent service. This can include a grooming table, bath, dryer and tools to prime your pooch.

There are many reasons to book a mobile dog groomer but the biggest one is arguably convenience, especially for busy dog owners. It’s gained a lot of popularity over the last few years, with more than 70% of Aussie families owning pets so naturally the demand for dog grooming will grow.

But what happens when you book a mobile dog groomer?

How does a mobile dog groomer work?

  1. Contact and book - This can be done through their website, social media (Facebook and Instagram) or over the phone. Whatever is more convenient for you!

  2. Arrival & consultation - Your mobile dog groomer will arrive with the trailer and assess your pup to discuss your dog’s needs. You may discuss what level cut you want or if it’s a breed-specific style, but if you’re unsure, that’s what the consult is for!

  3. Dog wash & dry - A session would typically start with bathing your dog using high-quality shampoo and conditioner. Based on the coat, they might need a pre-bath shave or brush.

  4. Additional services - Depending on your dog’s individual needs, the groomer may do an anal gland expression or de-shedding service.

  5. Brushing & detangling - The groomer will gently brush your dog’s coat to detangle and remove any loose hair to prevent matting.

  6. Nail trimming - Your dog's nails will be cut to a comfortable length to prevent discomfort.

  7. Cutting & styling - The groomer will proceed with the hair cut and style based on what was discussed during the consultation.

  8. Finishing touches - With a final tidy and a spritz of our doggy cologne, you’ll have a freshly primed pup back in your home.

How long is a mobile dog grooming service?

It depends! Whether you just want a wash & dry, a full service groom, or a de-shedding service, it can range from 1.5 hours to 4 hours. This is all based on the size, breed, and sometimes even temperament of your dog. You can always ask your mobile dog groomer for a rough estimate of how long the session will be.

What do I do when I book a mobile dog grooming service?

Here’s what YOU can expect to do when you book a mobile dog grooming session:

  1. Book the session

  2. Say hi on arrival and pass your pup to the groomer

  3. Relax in the comfort of your own home. Eat some food, catch up on your favourite show, water the plants…

  4. Reunite with your primed pooch!
